COVID-19 Safety Protocol

If your son displays flu-like symptoms whilst at College, they will be sent to the isolation/quarantine area to await medical pick-up from a household member. Parents/Guardians will be notified and must collect their son from school as soon as reasonably practical in private transport as per health direction. Students will be given a RAT kit to perform a test at home (subject to availability). Please email the result to allnurses@iona.qld.edu.au as soon as possible. If the student will be subsequently absent, please follow the absence reporting process.

This protocol is in line with the “School and Early Childhood Service Exclusion Direction” and our Precautionary Exclusion Policy.

Changes to close contact rules

With the changes to close contact requirements, please note that students who are close contacts must inform the school prior to attending school.

Please use this form to notify the College that your son is a close contact. If your son has COVID-19 or is ill and will be absent, please follow the standard absence reporting procedure:

Via Phone: 07 3893 8889

Via Email: studentabsentee@iona.qld.edu.au

You do not need to report to main reception for a medical student departure, please proceed directly to the Health and Wellness Centre.

Masks are no longer required in schools from 6.00pm on 4 March 2022.

However, all students 12 years old and above must still wear a mask on public transport. It is an expectation that all students in Iona Uniform represent their college dutifully, including complying with public health directions.

All persons returning from isolation/quarantine must also wear a mask for 7 days post-isolation/quarantine as required by public health directions. When registering your COVID-related absence, you will be sent an email detailing key dates for post-isolation/quarantine mask wearing.

Absence due to COVID-19 isolation

Illness and absences are being closely monitored and recorded to manage the safety of those on site at the College. Our preferred method of communication for absences (for any reason, including COVID-19) is via our standard absence reporting process:

Via Phone: 07 3893 8889

Via Email: studentabsentee@iona.qld.edu.au

COVID-related absences

If the student or anyone in your household tests positive for COVID-19, please call/email the student absentee line with the following information:

  2. Whether the person is a close contact or diagnosed person
  3. The date the test was taken that returned a positive result
  4. The last date your son attended a College activity (sports training, excursion, music lesson, etc.)
  5. (OPTIONAL) The date the positive case became symptomatic

You will then receive an email from the college containing key dates related to your son’s isolation/quarantine period, and post-isolation/quarantine mask wearing requirements.

The key dates are automatically populated. If you believe the key dates to be incorrect for some reason, please contact us at studentabsentee@iona.qld.edu.au.
