Fr Tim Long O.M.I. North Queensland Mission Immersion Tour 2018

In the 6oth anniversary year of Iona College, boys will journey to Cairns, in North Queensland as students before them have done, with a focus to be of service within two of the Rosies Friends on the Street volunteer groups. As in Brisbane, the Rosies ‘Friends on the Streets’ program is crucial in assisting those on the streets in both Cairns and Mareeba. By volunteering during their stay, our students will be able to add much needed assistance over a period of five evenings whilst in North Queensland.

Whilst in Cairns, the students will also have opportunities to experience indigenous cultural opportunities and visit the environmental delights of Kuranda via Skyrail and return by heritage rail. The students will also visit Green Island and be guided through the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park to experience and explore a site of rich cultural and historical importance.

Having departed Brisbane on Wednesday, 26 September, boys will return to Brisbane on Monday, 1 October.
