Feast of the Assumption of Mary Mass

Saturday 15 August 2020 Oblate Hall, Iona College

Feast of the Assumption of Mary Mass

The Assumption of Mary Feast Day is celebrated annually on 15 August.  This feast commemorates two events – the departure of Mary from this life and the assumption of her body into heaven.

As this is a religious celebration, the Assumption is most commonly celebrated by attending Mass, where the subject of the sermon is usually the Virgin Mary. At Iona College we came together on Thursday 13 August to celebrate this important Feast day with our Marian Mass.

Due to COVID restrictions our community had to gather in more than one central location but nevertheless we were able to join in ‘community’ and assist our Oblate Fathers (Oblates of Mary Immaculate), who of course are so closely linked to Mary, in celebrating and reflecting upon this most important Feast day within our Catholic Church.

Blessings to all of our Iona community.
