High Performance Sport Program

With self-discipline, motivation and attitude almost anything is possible. The High Performance Sport Program seeks to nurture the physical talents of Iona College students, whilst supporting academic potential.

Your talent is God's gift to you.  What you do with it, is your gift back to God.

It identifies, guides and fosters the development of high performing athletes and well-rounded men.

Underpinning the program is the development of the student as a lifelong learner who is committed to physical activity, has healthy eating habits, is resilient, motivated to achieving their potential and prepared to make a difference in the community.

The program provides students with planning tools for weekly, term and annual timetables. It enables students  to prepare for assessments while maintaining a balance between schoolwork and training.

Selection Criteria

At Iona College, we respect hard work, dedication and commitment. Students are eligible for the program based on the level of representation achieved.

Physical Assistance

As an extension of the High Performance Sport Program, each student has access to a supervised Strength and Conditioning program.

Financial Assistance

 

Financial Assistance can be accessed through application.

Nutrition

 

The program engages professionals in the field of nutrition.

Sports Psychology

The program engages representatives of the University of Queensland to consult on general focus techniques and mental preparation.

Absent from School Procedures

A policy document has been developed should a student miss school due to sporting commitments.
