Picking up and Dropping Off Students at Iona College
Having our students arrive and go home safely every day is an absolute priority.
- Students are not to cross roads to be picked up.
- The College expects that the restrictions marked on the map provided will be adhered to.
- Parents are not permitted to drive under IPAC or in front of the Chapel between 7:45am and 3:45pm.
The peak time for pick-ups passes very quickly. If you are able to pick your son up after 3:25pm, the traffic moves very well and you will experience only slight delays.
I am aware that often grandparents help out with transport and that they need to receive this information also. Could I ask that you give them a copy of the map and talk with them about pick-up safety, please?
I thank you, our parents, who are overwhelmingly conscientious, patient, careful and cheerful at drop-off and pick-up times. Your contribution is vital and very much appreciated.

OpenDNS - Internet Filtering.
In September 2011, Iona College held a full day of workshops covering all students, staff and a parent-evening on the important topic of CYBERSAFETY. Iona College families can use a product called OpenDNS to assist with internet filtering while the students are using their laptops at home.
To follow on from these workshops and in response to several parent queries ICT Services are now able to provide the following information sheets to assist parents to implement internet filtering for their sons at home. Also a document is provided which explains for parents how to restrict use of devices such as iphone, ipad and ipod touch.

If parents are looking for an alternative to OpenDNS for parental control by monitoring all computer activity rather than solely blocking internet sites - you can use VisiKid. Find the document below which explains how to setup VisiKid on your son's school laptop.

If parents are looking for a piece of software that will still monitor all student activity on the computing device but also allow you to block and control activities - you can use Qustodio. Qustodio will also allow you to not just monitor one student but many students and their devices with the one parental account. Qustodio has the added benefit of working on devices running systems other than Windows. Find the document below which explains how to setup Qustodio on your son's school laptop.
